Any interesting ideas for alternatives to frog closures to secure a vest for a wizard costume?

I made a vest for my husband’s wizard costume for the final book release party. I don’t want to use a standard button or zipper closure. I’m looking for something unusual and/or clever to help add to the quirky wizarding look we’re going for. Maybe something like a frog closure but not a standard frog.

Thanks in advance!
Not an invisible closure! Something visible and interesting looking. We’re talking wizard clothes here. We want to jazz it up.
This is for a Harry Potter themed wizard so it’s relatively flexible. Also, the vest has been cut and sewn for a non-overlapping closure. I was thinking I would just go something "like" frogs.

You could make something from polymer clay (or an air-dry clay) to use as a button in a "frog" loop, or in a loop of some wizard-y material.

Or, you could use hidden Velcro just to keep the vest closed/overlapped, then just sew or glue on faux "buttons" etc., made from wizard-y items you find or buy, or ones you make from polymer or air-dry clay.

Is it the actual wizard themed items you want suggestions for though? … like stars, wands, crystal balls, spells, potions, cauldrons, dragons, beards, cobwebs, etc.?
Or were you looking for something more oriented toward a Harry Potter-type wizard?
