Wizard Costumes

What can I use to create a Wizard of Oz 'Tinman' costume?

At my end of year dance recital, we're doing a Hip Hop routine and each dancer is going to be dressing up as a different character from a Musical.
I've been chosen to be the 'Tinman' from the movie 'The Wizard of Oz'.
I was planning on using cardboard for the torso of the costume, but there is alot of bending and floor work involved in the routine so I need something flexible enough to sustain that activity, but also look like The Tinman.
I'm 15 years old and would love for someone to give me some idea of what i could use!!
